At Cerno, you’ll not only experience a comprehensive program but also a one-of-a-kind chance to collaborate with esteemed professors, fellow students, and other peer mentors. This provides an enriching opportunity to engage with a diverse and knowledgeable scientific community.
Testimonial | University of West Florida
“Collaborating with Cerno and my entire instrumental analysis lecture lab class this year, we utilized new technology for research and presented our findings at conferences. Our goal is to make a meaningful impact on aspiring students. Together, within the scientific community, we aim to provide research software for students to enhance their learning.” – Karen W. Barnes, Ph.D. (She/Her), Lecturer, Chemistry | CURE Fellow. University of West Florida, Coordinator, General Chemistry Laboratories
Did you know? MassWorks is an acceptable standard!
Cerno’s MassWorks research software are now acceptable for organic synthesis confirmation in ACS journal publications such as JOC! Since the introduction of its innovative MS calibration and analysis software, Cerno Bioscience has received many similar questions from potential users, especially academic users, on the acceptability of MassWorks accurate mass results for publication in JOC-type journals, even with data from unit mass resolution GC/MS or LC/MS systems.
Cerno has closely followed the evolution of the JOC requirement for compound identification over the years, from the initial 5ppm mass accuracy with HRMS, the +/-3mDa mass accuracy without explicitly requiring HRMS, to the current “MS accurate mass (historically called HRMS or exact mass) data”. Spectral Accuracy versus and in combination with Mass Accuracy
What is Spectral Accuracy? In the context of mass spectrometry, spectral accuracy refers to the ability of an instrument to accurately measure the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) of ions, which is essential for identifying the chemical composition of a sample. High spectral accuracy is achieved by calibrating instruments to obtain high mass accuracy, which is typically expressed in parts per million (ppm). Spectral accuracy is an important measure of the accuracy of a spectral method in approximating the solution of a differential equation, and it is also a critical aspect of mass spectrometry, where it refers to the ability of an instrument to accurately measure the mass-to-charge ratio of ions.
