Forensics

The term “forensic” originates from the Latin word “forensis,” meaning public, pertaining to the forum or public discussion, or argumentative, rhetorical, belonging to debate or discussion.

Forensic science, also known as criminalistics, uses scientific methods in criminal and civil law, guided by legal standards for evidence and criminal proceedings. This broad field includes the analysis of DNA, fingerprints, bloodstain patterns, firearms, ballistics, toxicology, and fire debris.
